Rally Estonia environmental policy

The Rally Estonia team promotes environmental awareness and does everything possible to ensure that the event causes as little ecological impact as possible. In 2022, we achieved the 3-star level of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme and continue to maintain this standard.

Rally Estonia takes responsibility for climate change and its carbon footprint within the framework of its event and continues to offset emissions. Our goal is to reduce environmental impact by monitoring indicators and implementing corrective measures in key areas of impact. Partners are involved in the implementation of our vision through communication and training. We have identified relevant stakeholders with whom we collaborate to achieve this goal.

Assessing and reducing the environmental impact of motorsport plays an integral role in the FIA environmental programme. Based on FIA recommendations, we have increased the environmental awareness of the organizing team, documented and monitored the effectiveness of environmental actions during event organization. We have improved the measurement of the event’s carbon footprint and waste management systems, and we aim to set a good example on environmental issues both nationally and internationally. Rally Estonia considers it important to participate in sustainable development discussions with scientists, other organizations, and the public. For this purpose, we have joined the Rohetiiger platform as a founding member, aiming to become a representative organization in sustainable development discussions, to lay the foundation for a balanced economy, and to drive the green transition in Estonian society.

Rally Estonia’s goal is to increase environmental awareness not only among members of the organization and stakeholders but also among spectators, partners, and teams. Environmental issues, such as choosing environmentally friendly products and local services and reducing emissions, have been taken into account and defined in agreements with partner companies.

To promote sustainability and increase responsibility, we strive to implement the following activities and ask our partners to follow them as well:

  • We promote environmental awareness across all our channels and communications.
  • We comply with all relevant laws, regulations, environmental requirements, and the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme.
  • We require environmental responsibility from stakeholders, partners, and suppliers.
  • We pay close attention to cooperation with all residents as well as land and road owners.
  • We set sustainable environmental goals and measure them.
  • We focus on energy-efficient and sustainable solutions, such as the adoption of renewable energy sources.
  • We maximize the digitalization of competition documentation and minimize the volume of printed documents.
  • We strive to reduce carbon dioxide emissions – using hybrid or electric vehicles for most of the vehicles used in organizing the competition and optimizing transport.
  • We offset carbon emissions through tree planting and recycling. We seek innovative opportunities in the application of carbon sequestration technologies.
